Rong Guangsen, the inheritor of Chang’an School of Painting, was a disciple of Master Zhang Zhengyu when he was a young man along accompanied by Huang Miaozi and Ye Zhu. Then he studied traditional Chinese painting under Cai Heting and Cai Hezhou. Later he studied together with Huang Zhou and Fang Jizhong at The Xi’an Art Association and was personally instructed by the great master Zhao Wangyun and Fu Baoshi. When He Haixia moved to Xi’an, she often took him out to paint and taught him how to draw. Rong Gruangsen’s landscape painting collections are magnificent, turbulent, beautiful, ethereal, pure, and peaceful. He is diligent and outstanding, his talent, deeply appreciated by many masters such as Ouyang Zhongshi. After more than 70 years, he lived in seclusion and devoted to self-cultivating art.
