Spotlight Exhibition
This year is the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, half a century of vicissitudes, common memories, special links, continuous relay records the moment of Sino-Japanese friendship. Cultural exchanges between China and Japan have a long history, from Zen Buddhism to writing and calligraphy, Chinese civilization has gradually completed the construction of oriental aesthetics in the process of spreading.
Since the introduction of ink and wash painting to Japan, its pleasing form spread rapidly among the scholarly class, directly influencing painting during the 400 years of the Edo period. In the same way, the commonalities and characteristics of Chinese and Japanese cultures are reflected in the different developments in the writing of Chinese characters, which are of the same origin and different flows, and which go hand in hand with each other, each with its own differences. The exchange of calligraphy and painting art connects the folk friendship between China and Japan, from ancient times to modern times, from unconsciousness to consciousness, and it is a connection that cannot be severed by "cutting off water from water".
This exhibition is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan as the background, bringing together the works of 65 Chinese and Japanese artists in painting and calligraphy, organized and executed by Fang Ziping and curated by Lin Hongjun. The title of the exhibition was inscribed by Prof. Han Tianyong, doctoral supervisor of China Academy of Art and president of Zhejiang Oracle Bone Inscriptions Society.
